Each CLP can submit a Contemporary Motion to this year’s Annual Conference (closing date 12 noon on Thursday 15 September 2016), provided the CLP did not submit a rule change in 2016.
While this year CLP meetings are suspended until the conclusion of the Leadership election, the NEC has agreed that a meeting may be held to consider essential Annual Conference business, including Contemporary Motions.
The title should be a maximum of 10 words and the motion a maximum of 250 words.
Contemporary Motions are one of the few opportunities that constituencies have to influence the Conference agenda and thus the Party’s policy making.
CLPD’s model draft Contemporary Motions can be found here.
