CLPs have till Friday 14 February to make nominations for two National Executive Committee (NEC) CLP places.
Please ask your CLP to consider nominating Cecile Wright and Lauren Townsend.
These NEC vacancies have arisen because two BAME NEC members were elected to Parliament in December. So it is very important to nominate BAME candidates, so please treat the request to nominate Cecile as a priority.
The details of the candidates are:-
Cecile Wright
CLP: Derby North
Labour Party Membership number: A481880

Lauren Townsend
CLP: Milton Keynes South
Labour Party Membership number: L1497478

CLP nominations for these NEC vacancies are due to be decided at the same CLP all members’ meetings which are considering nominations for Leader and Deputy Leader.
CLP’s NEC nominations will be decided by a first-past-the-post ballot at these meetings, not by a preferential vote ballot – the procedure being used for deciding a CLP’s Leader and Deputy Leader nominations.
Unfortunately a change of circumstances has meant that Mohammed Azam, who CLPD had previously been asking CLPs to consider nominating, is no longer able to be a candidate in this NEC election.
Following the deadline for nominations the NEC election will take place at the same time as the Leader and Deputy Leader ballot, by a one-member-one-vote ballot that will run from 24 February to 2 April.
Yours,
Campaign for Labour Party Democracy
