|Labour's hard right worried about advance of centre-left|
|Wednesday, 08 October 2014|
Ann Black here reports on the centre-left winning a seat on the National Constitutional Committee about which Luke Akehurst of Labour First wrote:
“This is extremely concerning as it is the first time CLP conference delegates have elected a candidate from the left to a national committee for many years …
Following on from the left’s success in this summer’s NEC election there is clearly a threat that if we win the general election key democratic structures of the party may be captured by forces within the party who will not want to support a Labour Government when it is faced with tough decisions. We don’t intend to roll over and accept this trend!”
Having previously relied on cheating by full-timers to win elections at Conference, Labour's hard right now face a level playing field.
